Dear Mineola School Community,

We hope this letter finds you well and that you have been able to relax and spend valuable time with family and friends this summer. For those of you with children in the district, we hope that they are enjoying their break and are looking forward to the excitement of a new school year ahead!

We would like to provide you with an update concerning our search for a new superintendent of schools. As noted in our letter to the community in late April, we appointed District Leadership Search Consultants to assist us in the search process. Since that time, they have met with representatives from stakeholder groups throughout our district, including administrators, teachers, teaching assistants, teacher aides and clerical staff. During these meetings, the search consultants have gathered input on the qualities our school community deems important in our next leader. 

We would also like input from the greater Mineola community, our taxpayers and school-aged parents. To that end, we invite you to attend a community forum on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at Mineola High School. For those who cannot attend in person, the meeting will also be broadcast virtually. This will be an opportunity to engage directly with our search consultants and add your voice to the conversation.

It is important for us to note that we have already received a number of extremely qualified applicants for this position. As we move through the interview and hiring process over the next several months, your feedback will help inform our decision and ensure we find the right leader for Mineola. As of now, we anticipate appointing a new superintendent to begin with us in January 2027.

Community Forum Invitation

Superintendent of Schools Search Community Forum

The Mineola Board of Education has engaged District Leadership Search Consultants (DLSC) to conduct the search for the district's next Superintendent of Schools. The new Superintendent is expected to begin service on January 4, 2027.

On behalf of the Board of Education, we invite all residents of the Mineola Union Free School District to attend a community forum led by the search consultants. Your input is an essential part of this process and will directly inform the leadership profile we develop for the district's next Superintendent.

    Dear Mineola School Community,

    We are writing today to provide you with an update on the district’s search for a new superintendent of schools. First, we want to thank Interim Superintendent of Schools Catherine Fishman, who has done an outstanding job these past several months. She stepped in during a difficult time and has brought a sense of stability, focus and care to our schools, ensuring that the day-to-day operations have continued seamlessly. 

    Over the past several months, as a Board we interviewed numerous potential firms to assist in our search for the district’s next leader. At the business meeting this past Tuesday, we announced the appointment of District Leadership Search Consultants, a respected firm with a strong track record of guiding districts through the superintendent selection process. As they begin the national search for Mineola, they will provide multiple opportunities for community input, ensuring our next leader reflects the qualities our stakeholders value. Additionally, they will be meeting with specific groups within our district to ensure that the perspectives of our students, staff and families are reflected as they develop a leadership profile. We will keep you updated about these opportunities and look forward to your involvement.

    Please know that we are committed to selecting a superintendent who brings the expertise, leadership and dedication needed to build upon the strong foundation already in place across our district
